We are saddened by the tragic loss of two lives and many boats in the fire in Squalicum Harbor, Bellingham, on March 30th.  Dave and Mary Cahalan, long-time clients of Shipwrights Co-op, lost their vessel Chinook in the fire.

Amidst the large steel fishing boats and wooden schooners hauled out for winter maintenance, Little & Little is finishing their unique construction of a floating home.  The floating home will be launched this month with plans to dwell on Lake Union in Seattle.  Many local papers are covering the story, including

Volunteer aboard Adventuress this winter.  The Schooner will be located at The Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle.  This opportunity offers a sense of accomplishment as you work with local shipwrights, learn new skills, become a part of the maritime community, and support a wonderful mission.  The Winter Work Weekends

The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding’s newly built Jeff Hammond Boat Shop is full of activity.  This spring the Contemporary Program began it’s first boat project inside the 4800 sqft. shop.  Construction of Sliver, a 62 foot sloop, will continue into next year’s curriculum.  In the photograph below, Teacher and Project
