Local black locust flitches will be used for frames on the Marie Celine. Pete Rust plans to utilize the curves of the wood grain to match the curves of the frames. This can maximize the strength and integrity of the structure. Black Locust is a great wood for boat construction due to the water resistant properties.

Keeping Busy in the Sunshine

Here at Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-op spring has brought us beautiful sunshine, while we continue a busy schedule repairing a wide variety of vessels in boat haven.

The newest member of Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-op, Zeke McFadin, built a sailing vessel when he was 20 years old.  He named the boat “Ness”.  It took him six years to build the steel hull, a Tahitiana Ketch.   In 2000, when the boat was completed, Zeke sailed Ness
